weston lawns fishery

hi im going to weston lawns on friday for a 24hr session has anyone fished this place or have any info on what baits work?

Yeh i know it has lights all the way round the lake dunno what bait cat fish take?

never fished for them, but from what ive read/heard. They go for a few things, dead baits, 22mm marine hallibut boilies (2 or 3 on a hair) lunchenmeat. Maybe some of the lads on here can help?

Start a topic in the other species section for the cats. One thing i know about them is big smelly baits thay like.
As for here it maybe worth just putting baits out for the carp. If theres cats in there they are going to have got used to carp baits going in there and i would have thought would take them freely.

Hiya Doogs Ive fished Western Lawns a few times. It gets chokker block at the weekend so you need to get there on friday afternoon if your doing an overnighter or very early on the Sat or Sun morning. There are three lakes at W L a small match lake and a larger lake with two cabins and an island then there is the middle lake which is the one with the cats in. Ive fished for the cats last summer and spent three weekends on the trot with nothing to show except a dozen carp all captured on large 25mm halibut pellets, I always use two pellets on the hair and whilst it is quite a big mouthfull it still catches carp. Find the deepest and quietest part of the lake and target there first, then the margins. Point your rods directly at your bait and lock your clutch as tight as you dare, use running rigs and slack lines for the deep quiet bit and fish the pellets freeline in the near margins. Big bits of spam could be worth a try too, I mean 1/4 of a tin size bits. Good luck.
