I use ESP sonar marker float and never had a prob. good acurate and steady in windy conditions. 3 different colour tips so easy to see what ever the conditions/ prob be able to find one cheap if search the net.

Cheers been had a search and found them. Seems alright deal at around a tenner. 
Also had a look at this from Korda, although im not a big fan i like the idea with the lead so you can feel every bit of detail of the lake bottom. Only thing is it hasnt got the 3 different tips but i dont think thats really that important is it?

It good for when you hitting it around 100 yards and conditions are difficult to see the red.
Yeah the lead good but if you got braid on your marker you feel everything ok anyway. Depends on venue you fish though i supppose cause it would be good if your lake got alot of different bottoms at different areas. If you want to find that tiny bit of gravel inamongst loads of silt then would be good idea but when you fish easy bottomed commercials like me with Drayton the it does the job.

Got an ESP one in the end but only the float as i got the lead. Had a play with it and does the job and yes your right with the marker tops. Dull day and was easier to the see the float.
