Hi everyone
I thought I would start this topic off in the other species section as am more likely to catch barbel and chub then carp.
I did want to start the season off by doing the night on the 15 and chucking out at midnight but my girlfriend had a baby girl on the 12th so that idea went out the window(was not due till 18th). I did go down there last night about 8.30 till midnight, I did not catch anything but was getting loads of liners all night long no matter were I put the rods out to. At the moment I am blaming my bait, I made some fresh boilies up yesterday but I couldn’t find my list of measurements for the ingredients so I had to guess. The baits turned out to be a bit soft this was because I had added to much wheat germ and not enough casein acid although the bait rolled fine they just don’t feel right when I crack one open. Am going down there tonight to try again in a different peg with the same boilies will post the out come tomorrow……..

Out of season for pike on this water, runs from sept to march on the ticket.
Am looking at doing some spinning for perch soon. Got a couple of nice little spinners with hair tied to the end perch go mad for them ones. Been talkin to some of the lads also fishing rivers in the area and there struggling so its not just me. Anyone else having a go on the rivers this year, you cant beat a river carp fight (apart from a barbel)....

It is a strange rule the only thing you cant do is dead or live bait spinning still aloud for perch. You cant help what you hook......
Off down there tonight going on the other end of the island this time, just got back from making some baits up so hope these ones do the trick.....

Went down last and had a result, had a small chub a hour into session, then moved about 10 and had a 7lb 10oz barbel at just after 11.
One the way back down the river at just after midnight i came across 2 chinese chaps, one of them had a little toruch in his hand and the other was carrying a plastic bag with something in it and a metal pole about 2foot long.
I stopped them and asked what they were doing to which they replyed no english, i got my phone out and started to film them as soon as i did one them walked off down the river so i carryed on filming the guy with the bag and pole, telling him i know what they were doing and was reporting it. I got his face on camara so i left him and walked back down the river try find the other guy, i was carrying all my gear still i only got back upto the lock and stopped. I shouted out to the other guy calling him all sorts of names as i think most of you would and then turned round to walk home. When i got to the road there was a polo parked up right tight upto the bush as i looked down the side of the car the bag and pole was sat there, i picked up the bag and there was all the lines........... I have reported this now and am just wait for a call back.
