i agree with ben flying back leads.just think how far a fish can move on slack line before your alarms pick up the bite.

actually if you set up your rods in the garden cast out as normal, set your rods on the alarms and pull enough line from the spool to simulate the line laying along the bed of the lake then go and pull your hook and see how little you have to move it before the alarms go off. Try it again with a tight line and a heavy lead and again with a back lead. I think you will be surprised.

Or use running leads. <!-- s:idea: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_idea.gif" alt="" title="Idea" /><!-- s:idea: --> Seen it all on TV about slack lines. After casting out leave your line to settle for about 10 mins before sticking your swinger/bobbin on. This gives time for the line to sink and settle as long as you pinch the line against the rod before putting your swinger on so the line only takes the weight of the swinger keeping the line on the bottom, if that makes sense.
Rarely use running leads so rarely slack line but on a semi fixed rig would you still have to let the line settle before putting on the swinger?
