August 2010 catch results

Let the rods bend......

Done first session on mitre pool at Bishops Bowls last night. Only my 2nd overnighter of the season. Fished peg 9 as mate had set up on peg 8 before i got there. Felt around with the marker for about an hour an a half and found a large clear spot in the weed in the margins in about 7 feet of water and a small spot at about 30 yards in about 14 foot.. This area of the lake seems very weedy but baliff assures me there are quite a few clear spots. Within 10 minutes of first casting out at around 2pm had a run on margin rod but it done me in weed within a few seconds and the hook pulled Mate lost one at the net around 5pm then it went quiet. He went about 8pm so was on my own with only one other person doing the night on the lake. Settled down in my Bivvy and got some sleep. About midnight had a screaming run on my margin rod resulting after a tense 15 minute battle a 14lb 2oz fully scaled mirror. Camara is broke so couldnt get a picture but it was one of the most beautiful carp i have ever caught. Recast fired some bait out and went back to sleep. Left at 12pm without another run and other person doing the night had left about 7am so never found out if he caught.
Baliff Shaun has got this venue going in the right direction and think its going to be the place to fish over the coming years and i know i will keep going back for more.

Back from a day session today between 7 and 7. Got there at 6am and there were a few on the lake but person on peg 15 was packing up so after he did my mate fished 15 and i 14. Had a knock around 9 after finding a couple of clear spots in the weed but then dead even though carp were cruising through the margins right in front of me. Saw a large big plated mirror that came in less than a metre out and started feeding in the silt. It was joined by a few more and after 10 minutes they left. I chopped up some boilies and chucked them were the carp had been feeding and sure enough a short while later the carp were back. After they left this time i put in a few more chopped boilies and fished half of one on the hair. Half hour later the alarm screamed off and after a 10 minute battle landed a beautiful 14lb 4oz fully scaled mirror just as Sarah was doing the rounds. Only fish i managed but 3 other carp out by other anglers during the day including one bloke who had a 17 when we got there but hadnt bagged anything all night from peg 11.

It took me a long time to catch those fish, 30 odd sessions!

I raked out a swim then filled it in with custom baits red baron. Then got the rods on it the following evening.

The smaller 2 went 12 and 14lb and the old mirrior went 25lb 2oz and was dropping milt on the mat. In August!

Another Alex has emailed me at 25lb 2oz. Is that Nell Bridge your at there? Cracking carp, fair play pal.
