Particle Prep Guide

Thought this maybe a good help for people and made a sticky. Anyone who knows how to prep a particle, especially less used ones like peanuts then please post on here to help the forum.

HEMP
Soak for 24 hours before cooking. Bring to the boil on the stove(in a pan or it will cause a mess:roll:), add some salt and/or chiili and its ready once all the hemp has split and you can see the white of the inside. Remember to store in its juices because if it drys it will float. Juices are also a great binder for your groundbait or method mix.

MAIZE
Soak for 24 hours before cooking. Bring to the boil with a few good handfuls of sugar and once starting to split and soft then its ready. Store in its juices and again the juices are great for groundbait or method mix.

Tigers 24 hours soak, 30 minutes boil.
Good old pigeon conditioner, overnight soak, 10-20 minutes boil.
Bi carb of soda appox 1 tablespoon in the hemp whilst in soak, will help to soften the skin.

Peanuts

soak for 24 hrs and boil for 30 mins. Do not use peanuts meant for birds. Some of the peanuts used for bird food contain aflotoxins which is harmful to fish. I buy human grade peanuts brought from either ASDA, Morrisons or Tescos, you wont need kilos and kilos of nuts as they are quite powerful attractants.

If I am fishing a water that allows nuts then I will use a single peanut on a size 10 hook with a few either in a pva bag or scattered around it. I will also dip my peanut and hook in good old peanut butter and put a good dollop round the nut before casting out very gently.

a family size packet from the shops will last you for a season.

CHICK PEAS
Soak for at least 18 hours and boil/simmer for 30 minutes.

MAPLE PEAS
Same as above.

just bought some vitalin do i need to prepare it or use from the bag?

All i do is add lake water and leave it 20 minutes. I just get it soft enough so it easily forms a ball to use as groundbait and for the method feeder.
