method or solid pva? was created by bencarp16
Who fishes with what and why? Which one is the best?
Fish the method mostly as pva a bit expensive and it does the same sort of thing, doesnt it? Its a amound of bait with your hookbait close by.
Opinions please.

Both are completely different ways of fishing. PVA bags can be fished as solids or sticks and are all different sizes. Both technics are great on their day and different waters respond to different approaches to your fishing so i wouldnt say one is better than the other but I personally fish with bags more than the method.
The original "Method" was to have a soft outside layer of groundbait over a hard inner "ball", so the fish would attack the groundbait and then just "find" the hookbait. The remaining outer layer would break away on retrieve leaving a bit of bait in the area. Not the same as using PVA where you are using a dissolving carrier to leave a definite patch of food and also to prevent tangles when casting (which "the method" does as well).
The method can be fished over groundbait in its own right when the fish are really feeding, but a short hooklink with a "heavy" lead can do the same thing with PVA bag or mesh.
PVA is probably more versatile and i will stop blabbering on. <!-- s:lol: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif" alt="

i personally prefer the method for the only reason that when it hits the water some particles dispatch from it wich forms a slight cloud effect wich leaves scent through out the water rather than solid to the bottom,by no means the best method of the 2 but my personal favourite.

Both good answers, thank you. Is it possible to catch bigger carp on the method or are they wise and would shy. Also would they shy from the large crach on the water from a method feeder?

Seriously though it is possible. Had my first 20 on the method. As long as presented correctly it is fine. Especially on lakes where its not fished much. <!-- s:idea: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_idea.gif" alt="

How do you mean presented correctly and would you advise a long or short rig?

Presented correctly i mean the bait inside the method ball like said in a previous post but sometimes leaving the bait out the ball also works as it can pic the bigger carp out who are feeding on the side of baited area and also is good for a quick take as i believe its the first large bait a carp comes to while homing in on the ball.
I prefer using rigs around 3-4 inches on a soft braid so the hookbait can roll around as the carp feed.
