Having never caught a common bigger than about 3lb i would prefer to catch a 30lb common rather than a 30lb mirror carp. Although i wouldnt mind either.
What does everyone else prefer?

Big common everytime but i am biased as have never had a 20lb common before. Big dark, big plated mirrors are still beautiful fish though.
If it was a commercial im not too fused because the mirrors all look the same and the commons are too light.

Checkbook and pen......again!!!!

PB's a common, mirror before that, a 20+ leather or grass would be nice.... so no real preference. lol

Never caught a grassie and they are supposed to fight very very hard so wouldnt say no to one of them. Still think i would choose a big common over it i reckon.

Going on the 2 that i have caught, they do. Profile picture is the bigger of the 2 at 18lb and took me 3 months to catch after losing it at the net to a hook pull.
Jonny thats what i mean by carp in commercials, simmos. Far too light coloured but im obviously never going to complain if pulled a monster out :D

Tough one mate but think that big commons are harder to catch than big mirrors but thats only going on my personal experience. proberly because i havent caught that many commons bigger than 15lb. :(
Which one fights harder Cant say that one fights harder than the other in my opinion.

In my opinion you can`t beat a chestnut heavily scaled estate lake mirror although some of those dark commons are stunning ,and in my experience commons fight harder and if you get a good sized ghostie common they just don`t know when to quit ,which is harder to catch i would say commons are harder to catch ,the only reason for that is that there aren`t so many around :)
